I know that intestinal distress can be related to endo. I've never woken up due to the pain and nausea.. but sometimes it feels like my stomach is so inflamed and I'm so nauseous I can't eat..

Hang in there! Definitely let your doctor know what's going on? Maybe the addition of gravol or buscopan (stomach pain reliever) can aid with the pain and nausea. I hope you find a cure for your suffering!

I woke up this morning (Sunday) at 5 AM because of tummy troubles. It's been happening a lot lately. It's so frusterating and my left side in particular burns a little.

Not to pry, but...Are you constipated? I am reading Dr. Cook's endo book and one of the main symptoms of women with endo is digestive issues. Does it feel digestive or is it something else?

Thanks for your insights! Luckily I didn't have the pain last night. It did feel digestive, but it also seemed endoish. I just wasn't having any real digestive issues to speak of, except for the pain, but the pain seemed too wide-spread to be endo.

My doctor seems to think I have IBS, even though she diagnosed me without asking me any questions about that department. ;) I very well might, but I don't have the classic symptoms. I have nausea (could be endo-related) and pain. Both of those sound more like endo to me.

yeah, unless you have painful bowel movements, the big C followed by the big D, and such, you probably don't have IBS.

I was diagnosed with IBS - in fact many women with endo are diagnosed with it - before the endo diagnosis.

So if you don't have the C and D...sounds like it could be scar tissue or endo related. Dr. Cook separates the two as separate pains but both endo related. Or it could be something else.

For me, the endo pain is all over, starting from one general area, but radiating through the whole abdomin and it's hard to say where the starting point is. At least I think that's endo.
Scar tissue for me causes other more stabbing pains (I think).

Gosh I wish I knew my own pains. What do you think yours could be, still thing digestive? or more endo or scar tissue?

Well I'm seeing a gastro doctor today. I had bad pain in the night, followed by vomiting. It was scary. :( I still don't know if it is endo related or not, but I know my gyn would just say "Is it time for Lupron or another surgery?" I'm hoping to get some answers today.

Glad you are seeing a gastro today. That is a normal step . IBS is confused ALOT with endo so it is best to rule out each thing seperatly. You could be experienceing acid reflux. It isn't endo related but can come from years of taking lots of pain pills (like me).

Well that was useless. Of course the only doctor who is available the same day is the one with no bedside manner. He was rather rude, and just wanted to order a bunch of tests. He says "there's a million things it could be" both serious and nonserious. I'm just done with tests. I don't want to take the time off of work, these tests are invasive, and some of them have a lot of radiation, which I've already had a lot of. When expressed concern about this, he acted like I was crazy.

I was hoping for some answers. Now I'm just more confused!

Yeah, the gastro guy will want to do a colonoscopy. I had one done about 6 years ago. I had mine because of the IBS and then I had bloody stool a few times which is a sign of a more serious issue.

Your vomiting has me worried though! I think that's also a sign of a cyst so I wonder if you should get an ultrasound done - or could ask for one.

I'm sorry you feel like you're jumping through hoops. I feel the same way. It's funny because Dr. O posted a survey the other week and I took it and all the questions were: do you trust your doctor? why do you seek other's advice? how has your doctor's advice influenced you?

And for me the answer is - no I don't trust my endo doctors at all. Fertility doctors? Yes, they know how to make babies. Endo or gastro doctors? No, they just like to order tests and surgery but thus far have not helped me or my condition. So disappointing.

Yeah, I don't really completely trust my gyn, but I know she means well and is more trustworthy than other gyns. The gastro doc was concerned about a partial bowel obstruction, especially since I had adhesions on the bowel. Any experience with that?

Sorry hotchocolate. The tests are necessary to get a clear picture of what is going on. They will need to scope you from each end so any issues in that department can be addressed.
