Endo not a chronic disease

I'm so peeved. I just got my chronic illness insurance card and it listed all the illnesses it covered and endo was not covered. This disease required me to have surgery and may require me to have MORE surgery, plus it requires lots of pain meds and my new insurance won't cover it. Lovely. I'm soooo peeved right now. Sorry for venting. They cover things that can be taken care of with a small amount of medication (like asthma, my friend has it and only very rarely even needs her meds), but they won't cover something that requires a lot of surgery and medication. Grrrr. ><

Anyone else have insurance problems with endo? This is my new insurance for this year. My old insurance covered it. My old insurance was good. But nooo the company had to change insurance at the new year.

Endometriosis was considered an auto-immune disease as of September 2008. Here is a link about it along with it is access to other articles and research.
Otherwise, like the others said, have your doctors bill it differently so that it is covered. I have state funded insurance and with all the doctors I see for endo, I don't even think they (insurance) know I have it. It's all in how it's worded. Tell your doctors about your new insurance and I'm sure they will know how to deal with it.

Also Ombre, don't let Sabby being declined for SSD discourage you, it is possible to get it because I've read about a few women getting it.

Sabby, don't give up!! Try again! You're worth the effort! It will happen for you!! Don't let them tell you that this disease isn't debilitating because you know it can be and IS!!! Treat it like all those doctors telling you it's in your head and that there is nothing they can do for you!! You know your body better than anyone else and you know your limits! You wouldn't have applied for SSD if you didn't feel like you needed to! Am I right?

I'm not giving up and neither should any of you!! Believe in yourself!!

Hi Schala. Do you have to get allstate chronic illness plan from work? What i mean is is that all they offer or something they are making you have because endo affects you working? Also, social security dept denies everyone the first time. They can deny you up to 3 times then you can request a hearing. Everytime you reapply write EXACTLY the same thing on each and every piece of paper. And DO NOT TRY TO GET A LAWYER. Since we look normal they will all tell you the don't feel you have a case. When it gets to the point that they give you an administrative hearing... put your big girl shoes on and go in there and just tell how endo affects you. There will be a judge, stenographer and state expert and you. Not scary at all. Hell all they can say in no. Trust me this worked for me. And i didnt not have to share my money with a bullshit ass atty who did not believe I had a case. It took about 2 years. But this was in 2003. In 2005 the judge found me partially disability for a closed period of like 3 years and I received around $51,000. That lasted until I was strong enough and determined enough to reenter the workforce full-time in Aug 2007. I have since had 2 more laps but have been right back to work a week later. DO NOT GIVE UP LADIES. I know how fucked up dealing with this is but if YOU don't fight for YOU NOONE else will. Endo has taken enough of my life and i refuse to let it take anymore.
