I'm wondering if as your body gets used to a bc pill the effectiveness wears off. When I was first put on loestrin after my surgery a year and a half ago, my periods were extremely light. Almost nonexistent, which was the total opposite of what I was used to. Over time, I feel like they have been getting heavier. Still not as bad as they were before my lap and bc pills, but definitely getting heavier. The pain seems to vary from period to period and oddly enough doesn't always correlate with how heavy it is.

Does your body just get used to the pill? Do you ladies find that you need to change pills every so often because of this?

I personally never really had a bc pill that I could stay on for very long except when I first started them when I was 14. After that they either caused breakthrough bleeding or extreme weight gain and the last few years it just never helped with the pain I was having. I don't know why it never worked well for me when it works so well for others. I don't think it would hurt to ask your doctor to switch you to a different one. The Loestrin is one of the lower dose ones so maybe you need more hormones or a different combination of hormones.

Hello! I have been taking the BCP now for 10+ years continual, I never stop for a period. I have never had issues on the pill except for some cases of breakthru which is normal because the lining does build up a little even on the pill but overall, the pill has given me my life back. I'm curious why doctors still have endo girls stop for the bleed on the pill because it's really not a period, it's a fake bleed, totally unnessary. I would check with your doctor and see why you can't take it continual.
Bleeding is not good for endo, you really want to suppress the bleeding all together so that the endo doesn't keep turning on and getting aggrivated each month.

I only changed pills 1x which was 4 years ago when I went off the pill for a year and a half to try to get pregnant. When my endo pain started to get so unbearable, I gave up that hope and went back on the pill. I tried a different one called lo ogertrel but didn't like it, seemed to cause weight gain despite my working out like crazy so I I went back to old faithful and I have been good since.

Yeah, I tried to take it continuously but I just kept having breakthrough bleeding. My doctor really wants to stop my periods but the only way to do that is to go on Lupron and I'm not ready for that. I don't think my pain is bad enough to take the risks of all the side effects.

I had a lot of spotting earlier this month and now I have my heaviest period since surgery. I don't get it. I've also gained weight but haven't been real careful about what I've been eating, so maybe that's why. If this continues, I'm going to have to ask for a change. I'm mostly concerned about the long-term effect all the extra bleeding will have on the endo.

I had good luck with nuvaring. I found that the number of years on BC made a difference. Skip a month, and it went downhill again. But it took years for me to find one that was just right. Also, BC can slow the growth, but doesn't stop it. So listen to your body about what it also needs. :-)
