Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

I think its really a shame there isn't more awareness about endo, both in the medical community and among women. I also have Celiac disease and in the last year or so awareness about it has really taken off, I wish that the same would happen with endo. Its taken a few years for me to get a diagnosis, and since I had been misinformed about the symptoms of endo (it happens only in older women, the pain is only during your period, etc.) I never thought that it was the source of my pain until I got diagnosed, once I started reading up on it I realized endo fit exactly with every symptom I was having.
What finally led me to the gynecologist was that my pain from sex was getting worse and worse (I'd had the pain off and on all my life but now its constant in all positions). Anyways, I am newly diagnosed, but I've opened up to a few girls about my condition and two of them have actually responded that they avoid sex because its so painful but they figured that was normal. I figure that there must be many girls my age (I'm 20) who feel this way but are too embarrassed to talk about it. If there was more education and awareness about endo the disease wouldn't go untreated for so long and everyone would be much better off! Anyways, sorry for the little rant, I just imagine that there are so many women going through this when they don't need to!

I couldn't agree more. I went through 5 years of symptoms and it never occurred to my Dr that it could be endemtriosis - and I had never even HEARD of endo. All my Dr did was switch me from one birth control pill to another thinking that I was just reacting to the pills. All the pills actually resulted in me developing a DVT and PE which created even more problems. All this could have been avoided. With so many women suffering from this, it seems like it would be more widely talked about, especially among doctors! But I am glad you got a diagnosis and can hopefully find some relief!

I completely agree with you as well, it took about 11 years for me to get a dx and it took an emergency laparotomy to finally get that dx. Lately I have been thinking a lot about endo awareness as well, and wound up purchasing some buttons and a t-shirt online to help with that. I even put a banner on my facebook page about it - though that wound up getting me a few nasty e-mails from "friends" who thought I was going overboard with it and told me it was annoying to see posts about disease... I think it is important to let people know about this disease, hopefully other women will get a dx earlier.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
