I have this and it bothers me more than the endo. I finally got my hysterectomy scheduled for next week. With my adeno (I had never heard of it either until 4 years ago) it makes my uterus look about 3-4 months pregnant and it causes severe bleeding. I bleed for about 10 days and it's an incredibly heavy flow. I can use as many as 3 tampons in an hour and I'm always anemic. Pregnancy helped the symptoms but they came back almost immediately after giving birth.

I was told for years that I either wouldn't be able to conceive or would have trouble conceiving. I've had 4 pregnancies right in a row so I thankfully didn't have that problem, although I know many women that did.

During my last pregnancy I had a lot of pain throughout it that the doctor couldn't give me an explanation for. Now that I've had my baby the pain is still there so maybe the symptoms didn't go away with that pregnancy.

When they first diagnosed the adeno they thought I had a tumor because sometimes it will show up as that on an ultrasound. Never had any pain meds but tramadol given to me for it and that was awhile back. When the pain is at its worst I usually just knock myself out and try to sleep through it, but that's not always possible.

I'm on the fence right now at what I should do because I know I can't continue living in pain espeically now that it never goes away. I was blessed with a daughter who is 10 but me and my DH (not biological dad but he adopted her this summer) have been trying now for 4 years.. I want to try for another IUI or IVF and he says the ball is in my court because he doesn't enjoy watching me in pain and I've tried to hide it a lot of times from him but now its too hard to hide it. Have an appointment Thursday with the infertility clinic and see what they have to say that might be my deciding factor, not sure. Might give it one more try but know I'm close to hysterectomy time and I'm in a good place and OK if it comes down to it. A few months ago would have been a different story.

Something that kind of stays on my mind and worries me, is with adenomyosis, is it really safe to get pregnant? Every time I think about getting pregnant, I worry about my uterus not stretching...If the scar tissue is growing within our uteruses, how do they stretch when we get pregnant? I'm not trying to bring up things that are scary, but this is always something that I don't understand...and when I bring it up to doctors...they just say "oh it will stretch" and that's it...they don't really go into it other than that...they kind of act like they don't really know...Does anyone else know how it stretches with all the extra tissue?

I am very worried about this as well as we are going to have to try IUI or IVF this cycle and I want the statistics and they won't give it to us which I don't like. I want to know if it works and I get pregnant what our my chances of full term pregnancy but I guess they can't give us those answers because no one really knows. This website offered little information about pregnancy but states its because they have little data to get information from.

I also worried about this, but I did have three births even after being diagnosed with adeno so it must have been okay, at least for me. When I asked my doc about it he couldn't give me a straight asnwer, either.

I just got diagnosed with it three weeks ago during my lap or my endo. My dr. told me that it will not cause infertility issues, damage, or cancer and that basically the only problem is that it causes pain and symptoms like heavy bad periods and the only way to end it is to have a hysterectomy. She that I can have kids when ever I chose and that the adeno won't affect it whatsoever. This sounds great but the more I research the more questions I have. I do have to say that I have a good dr. I've been searching for a long time and she's the best dr. I've ever had, but I'm definitely finding new questions to ask her. I think my biggest concern is pregnancy and whether it truly is or isn't an issue. Just like one of the other responses on here, I'm concerned about scar tissue. I'm new and confused!
