Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Don't RUSH into such a serious decision. However, the "reverse" is also true. Don't TTC under outside duress and pressure. I'm sorry because I know where your heart is, but I can only offer HUGS of support to you.

I guess I was mostly concerned about not knowing immediately whether I want children or not and if having to think about it is weird/strange or whatever it is people think of me when I say that I do not know if I want kids. I guess I expected to just always know if I did and it hasn't been that way.
I am sorry you have been through so much. hugs and support to you too!!
Also - endo doesn't always cause infertility so don't assume you're going to have trouble if you decide you want a baby. You could very well get pregnant the first cycle you try.
Obviously you have to make your own decision. I wouldn't rush into anything simply because the doctors are telling you. They might even be wrong. I was also told I should have kids asap, but I'm 31 and not even dating anyone, so there's nothing I can do. I think in time you will be more clear on your answer. You're young. :)
I guess I was having a freak out moment after talking to some of my coworkers who just seemed to always know and thought i was out of the ordinary. other decisions have come so easily. I am working on my second masters degree and hoping to get my Ph.D and have always known I wanted to do that and teach and research, but something like kids is a way more gray issue for me. At least I am young and have time to decide :)
love and hugs to you all!
I never wanted kids and neither did my husband and we've stuck with that for the 12 years we've been together. It has just never been in our plans, people told me I would change my mind but I haven't. I think I am in the "I always knew" camp, although so many people told me when I was a teenager that I would change my mind that I sort of started to believe them. I thought maybe it was a phase and I would change my mind, but I never did.
I was also told to have kids ASAP by a few doctors....even after telling them we weren't interested. I guess it's the nature of the ob/gyn field.
I think choosing whether or not to have children is a very personal decision. You need to do what's right for you. However, it seems to be a topic that everyone always seems to think they need to give advice on. At least, that has been true for me. I'm 30 and not married(gasp!)- although I am with my high school sweetheart, and so our path is certainly headed that way.
We have of course talked about children, but are both fairly sure it is not in the cards for us. I have completely blocked Fallopian Tubes, so I have about a 0% chance of becoming pregnant naturally. This is not something that I broadcast, and my boyfriend is the only one who knows. I know there are other ways, but a part of me feels that maybe it just isn't meant for me. It still stings my heart when I hear of friends and relative's pregnancies, and I have been told that I am selfish for not 'trying harder', selfish for not wanting kids, and that all around I'm not worth as much as women who have kids (yes, this was said to my face).
The fact is, I am happy with my life, I love my boyfriend, and I know that we will be just fine-just the two of us. I have learned that we are in the minority, and some people just will not come to grips, or even respect our position, and I just let it go. I'm not living my life to please everyone else.
Don't feel pressured into not having or having kids. It's o.k. not to know definitively! You are young, and you will be just fine no matter what you choose!
I think something like this is the kind of thing that gives you those thoughts of you need to figure things out this very minute or you are going to have those feelings of regret. It is a very personal choice and if you feel that you aren't ready, then that is what you believe. Your doctor probably is just pushing you because they want you to have the beat fighting chance for that choice as soon as you can. I just think you need to make that very clear that this is between you and your boyfriend because at the end of the day it is your choice and your future. Take that time you need. Either way this community is here to support YOU.
