My mom asked me a very profound question this evening while discussing when I should insist on having my lap.
She said: "What if they don't find anything?"

This hit me like a ton of bricks because i've thought about it but not seriously. What if I go through all this again and they don't find anything? They don't find the cause as to why I am so sick?

What if?

Have any of you gone in for a lap and they found nothing?

hi there

ive had these fears too and im sure everyone does. but remember that there has to be something causing your pain regardless if they find something or not. push to get test done and dont stop until they give you answers. it took me 7 years of suffering before i found out i had endo. ive heard everything from pms, skeletal problems, cancer to just making it up and finally they found something. so remember you can hear everything diagnose in the book but one day youll have a doc to find out whats really going on. good luck on your lap

Hi Tori! I was nervous too before I had my lap. I think most of us were. Have some patience. Stressing about what ifs right now could cause you even more physical pain. See how things go after your lap and go from there. Good luck sweetie. Take care,

yes this is my worst fear.. as i am not yet diagnosed either. the fact is you need to have a lap in order to find out.. so even if they dont find anything, dont regret having it done.. r else you still would not know. but then of course you may think that they just didnt see/find it.
considering you have had endo found before, im sure something will be found. in most cases it DOES grow back...
like sabby says, they will try to diagnose you with everything .. ibs, cfs, fibro. etc

never had that happen, but the "what if's" have killed me. for years i wasnt diagnosed properly and the what ifs drove me insane. I finally realized the sickness was winning. I was feeding it by being so negative and scared. I had to be strong in my mind so i could be stronger in my body. it wasnt easy, but it did help.

I agree with survivinendo on this...playing the "what if" game is a real energy sapper. I've been going around in circles for years not taking action because "what if" the action was in vain. As a result, I already had severe endo by the time i had the courage to go for a lap. Recently I've realised that taking action is so much more energising than always asking "what if". The answer you get may not be a definitive one, but it will rule out certain potential causes of your symptoms and you will be closer to discovering what actually is wrong. Often diagnosis and treatment is a long journey, but alway know that with every challenge in life, if God brings you to it, he will bring you through it.

Yeah you guys are right, my energy should be spent being more positive. It's just been 2 years and i would really like to find out once and for all! They have to find something right? hehe.
