2 weeks since surgery

Hello my name is Ashley Nicole and I am new to this site. I have been told that I should find a support group where people understand what I am going through. I have a wonderful husband that takes care of me through all this but I feel like sometimes people don't quite understand what I go through every month.
I have had pain since my first period when I was 15, most people just said take some aspirin and it will go away. I had been to over 4 gynecologists in the past 10 years... every time I would tell them I need help something is wrong... what I am going through is not normal. I have been living with Endometrosis for 10 years now. My husband and I had been trying for a baby for over a year and I thought it would be a good idea to get checked out. I finally went to a doctor that listened to me. After seeing my doctor for the first time, she scheduled a surgery for the following week.
My surgery went well, she found endo on both my ovaries, the endo was squeezing my ovaries. She also found endo implants on my uterus which she said she had never seen before. they were the size of dimes and looked like blood clots. She removed everything she could and now I am on my first period after my surgery and feel like I am worse. My doctor did warn me that the first period would be rough because all the trauma from the surgery.
I guess my hopes for joining a support group is that I can talk to others that share the same problem as me. I don't know anyone in my life that has had this and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I thank god everyday for Dr.Blacker .... THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO ME!

Bryan and I are going to begin trying again next month, we have 10 months to try to conceive.

Also I have endo stage 3

I hope I get to know some of you and you can share thoughts with me. :)

Welcome to the group, Ashley! You'll find some really amazing people on here who can also give good advice. :) I'm so sorry you're going through this, but you're definitely not alone. I began having problems when I was about 13 or 14, and it kept escalating for years. No one ever listened to me or believed me until I was already failing out of school and had given up pretty much everything I loved. I also went to 4 different doctors before finding one that was any good.

What kind of surgery did you have? Was it laser or excision? I had 2 laps, and neither of them worked. However, they were both laser, and I've read several posts on here about excision working better to clear the endo. I hope that this period is just worse due to the surgery, like you said.

I hope that you get to feeling better very soon!

I had excision surgery, I had the Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy done. Before the surgery she said it would take about an hour and a half give or take. Once she got in there it took 4 and a half hours!! The damage that was done to my left ovary was unbelievable, the endo was swallowing my ovary. So I am pretty much done to just my left. Thank you for the kind words and I hope one day you find the right treatment. I like you have had a lot change in my life. I almost didn't graduate high school from the amount of absences and I kept dropping out of college because the professors were not understanding. I have now come to the point were I can't keep a job from calling off 3 times a month for my period. I get a lot of " Just pop an Advil and walk it off! " I am just glad I am in a place where some people understand that I can't just "walk it off" I can barely walk when it hits.

Like I said before my doctor warned me about my first period being rough from the surgery. I am hoping its better next month. :) Thanks again!

4 hours!! Wow! Well I definitely hope they got you all cleaned up really well!! I know what you mean about people saying "just pop Advil and walk it off." People at my old job use to say that all the time, and it was awful. And at my last job, I was forced to quit because of my absences. I'm still getting used to a lot of the changes. There are things I really miss, and it wears on me sometimes. But I'm trying to find new things to replace the old, so it's getting better. :)

Glad to hear your doing better, I have heard that being apart of a good support group helps! The surgery did go well, there were a few endo implants on my uterus that she couldn't remove because they were so small she didn't want to do more harm then good to my uterus. Just keeping my fingers crossed that we will be able to conceive in the next 10 months. They only gave me a small window but I am trying to stay positive. Thanks again for all the kind words :)

Welcome to the group :) I don't get a chance to come around as often as I used to, but there's a great group of ladies here. Lots of support. I'm sorry you had to have such extensive work done. Hopefully you won't have any issues with conceiving. That's something that worries me. When I'm done with the induced menopause we're going to start trying. I always worry about what damage could've been done before we found out. Anywho, welcome to the group! :)
