Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
During those 3 months she was gone, I thought I wouldn't like it, but I actually liked it, and was looking forward to her moving on, me visiting her, bringing her meals, etc.
You wouldn't like it though. Suggestions: Even though I am a Loner, what I was doing was I was keeping busy, going to classes, the gym, volunteering, etc. Of course now it's different w/COVID, but please look forward to all the freedom you'd have in the future, and how you'd be glad they are moving on.
Now it's hard b/c you are thinking of impending doom. Once she is out, you may just enjoy it (once this damn pandemic is over). Hang in there, life is full of ups and downs. Good luck!
Are you a single parent?
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
And yes the thought of your girls all gone has you depressed because it's a change, "fear of the unknown" as someone I know calls it.
You'll be fine. The thought of it scared me too when she moved out for a while.
I was okay though, and you will be too.
