Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
There was a time my only daughter moved out (she did come back after a few months, it didn't work out).
I was flipping out too. And you know what, as the time went on, I got over it and was enjoying the peace. Maybe you. need more time?
I know it's a big adjustment, but remember your kids love you but they must move on.
Do things to keep busy. If you're home alone, call your family or friends, maybe volunteer somewhere. Keep active!!
She went and paid her deposit on her apartment today so it is a done deal. What a strange combination of emotions... pride, excitement, elation for what she's feeling but extreme sadness for me.
I hope all of you are doing well.

My dad was a single parent and all of friends hung out at our place. After we left he started a program teaching youth about bee keeping, and has a program at his apiary, as well as visiting camps and schools.
The house is still often quiet, but he keeps busy. I'm hoping to do the same. I hope you can channel a skill or passion that you can share and can help with the quiet spaces.
