Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
Try volunteering for a few hours in your community.
Good Luck

I'm also trying to get a support group together through craigslist but have not had any luck so far.
One thing that did work really well: in December my husband & I had an open-house type of party at our place, where we invited everyone we even remotely know. People came & went all evening, and it was nice to get to know some of them better. This might be something you can try if you enjoy putting on events.
Enjoy the journey :)

"The Re-Feathered Nest - Helping mom discover her new purpose after the kids fly the coop"
I have been longing for get togethers like I had when I was younger. H says we may have to start hanging out with people younger than us, and I feel the opposite... That we should start meeting people older than us.
There really isn't anyone in town our age that we haven't met yet whom we can visualize actually having any fun with.
We live in a twn that is very family centered, and the people with kids.... Well, their kids are their life, and the people without kids who never had any, well. That is weird too as they don't get it.
But older people who have already been through it.... I could dig that.
Younger people are ok, but, then they start having kids!
We were at a state park today, EasterSunday, and car loads of people our age, with kids, and without, showed up....me big group took over almost the whole campground. They were all introducing themselves to each other. And they were having fun. Playing guitars, and flying kites, and using hoola hoops.....and my H and I just kinda looked at each other and said "why don't we have that?"
When I dig down deep inside, the answer sorta bothers me.
So. I have a few quirks to overcome, but I will be damned if I am not going to work on it! We need a life outside of our life. NEED.
It will be hard tho,as my H and I are both "followers". We are more apt to show up to an event than to create one.
Ugh!
Time to change!
