Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
I want so badly to focus on what I do have. Mostly I post the negatives on here, when I am sad, lonely, hurt...
I saw another post on here from a sweet moment and so thought I should share mine.
Three years ago my oldest son told me if he had a girlfriend he would never bring her home to meet us. I was so crushed. He was the child I was closest too, but as he turned into a young adult (it started about age 19) he pulled away farther and farther. I missed him so.
Six months ago he started dating a lovely young lady who I already knew. A month later he started bringing her by once in a while, two months later they started occasionally staying the night as my house is half way between hers and his.
About a month ago he started showing me pictures of a ring he wanted to have designed for her.
Last week they climbed in the car and went on a week's vacation with us and my youngest son.
Standing next to the Pacific Ocean (not within hearing distance, but down the beach) I watched him kneel in the sand, take her hand, and although I couldn't see it, knew he was placing a ring on her finger.
What an wonderful moment to be able to be there and be included. Words just cannot express it.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
