Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
I became extremely close to my son because it was just the two of us for so long. Now that he is in college there is a huge void in my life and in my heart. I can certainly understand how you are feeling. It's probably the most difficult thing I've had to deal with besides my father's death; and I've had to deal with quite a bit.
I'm sure things will get better for both of us, but in the meantime I certainly feel your pain.
HuGs,
Miki
