Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
.I'm glad you posted.its good to reach out to others feeling the same things...
I'm sorry you lost your sister..: (....... That must be really difficult..it sounds like you were close to her and she helped you alot with getting out.plus you are missing your kids too.your in mourning still, that will add to depression.
I wish I knew what to say to fix it all.I have such a hard time getting out of the house.I sometimes leave to go to the store down the road and have tremendous anxiety doing it alone.
Your not a nobody! That's for sure!! Just someone who's sad and struggling.! I fight those kind of thoughts too.it's really hard,I know. ((Hugs)))
Personally like to do things alone sometimes so I like to read watch TV etc,but with my kids getting older and too busy for me,the loneliness is definite kicking it big time......your not alone. Keep posting here and reaching out......
You have just as much of an empty nest -- just of a different type. You are missing and longing for the company of someone you love. We can understand your feelings of loss. Find things to occupy you in your home perhaps as a starting point. Clean, clean, clean. Go through your closets and get rid of things you don't need anymore. If you have a garage, go through things in there. Perhaps as you are cleaning you can make a list of things you might need to get better organized. Look for those things online or go shopping for them. Perhaps in the store you can ask the clerk for help so you will at least be talking with others. When you go to the grocery store, talk to people in the deli about items in the case and how you might cook with them. See if you can find a church and get involved with some other women. Take up a hobby -- maybe there is a craft store near you that might have some classes. I have been where you are and being busy does help. I will be doing some of these same things in a couple of weeks when my husband is traveling. Please keep coming back here. It sometimes helps just to read some of the other posts. You are not alone!!!!
