Eczema is a form of inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. The main symptoms are skin rashes characterized by redness, skin edema, itching and dryness, with possible crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing or bleeding. I got a skin infection in June from Shaving, afterwards I bought an epilator to remove my hair. However, in September I left my epilator at my mum's house so are starting shaving for the first time since June, my skin was fine. In October i got my epilator back, the first time i epilated I got a skin infection, and I have epilated again and now I have a really bad skin infection. The doctor says its bad luck that I happed to epilated while I had a skin bug, and opening the skin caused the infection.
How are you meant to know when you have skin bugs? Should I disinfect my epilator?
Also, and more importantly, for the women, how do you remove your hair?
Should I move to waxing? Or is the whole process of hair removal going to lend me to skin infections? Has anyone come up with solutions, I have dark hair so I would really would like to be able to remove my hair, by doctor suggested the hair removal cream, but isn't that bad for people with eczema?
Please help, its so awful having infected legs.

My eczema is really really bad on my shins. I try to wait to shave until the hair is a bit longer. I use the style razor that has a ring of soap around the blades. I use the sensitive sking version and thouroughly clean the area before I shave. I also lather up with mega layers of lotion after. I shave maybe every other week and sometimes make it all winter with out shaving. If I wear a dress it is a long one and I wear leg warmers (made from old sweater arms) to protect my legs from the wind and cold. I have learned how to manage mine but I definitely sympathize with you. If you find something that works well, I'd love to hear.

Last week I did a patch test with wax and some of then pustules came up. A few days, ago I washed the area, and patch tested the razor, hair removal cream, and the epilator. Nothing happened, so tonight I epilated and hopefully everything will be ok.

Its, been a day since I epilated, it did not end up ok, spots are starting to appear, i'm heading straight to the doctor on monday morning. :-(

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
