When I am bored I try to find something to do. For me that usually means doing something that involves using my mind such as word puzzles. It sometimes means I want to have a conversation. Sometimes I just want to chat with someone.
When I want to eat my feelings, I try to allow myself to feel and express my feelings intead of eating. This has only been possible for me after many years of therapy and healing from childhood trauma. Before healing I found it very difficult to not eat.
I also have PTSD and I think developing an ED is a common coping mechanism. Are you working with a therapist for your PTSD? That may be a good place to start if you are able to. There is also a PTSD board here on DS you may want to check out.
april that's great that you're on meds for PTSD but have you been to therapy? To me meds are like putting a Band-Aid on the problem (they are necessary, trust me - I'm not judging that part of it) without treating the underlying wound. You likely need a multi-faceted approach to your healing and recovery.
Lucky makes a good point - there is a fantastic PTSD group on this site. Why not check it out? And of course continue to post with us!! lol
