hey guys-maybe this is a blog better suited for the support groups, (i joined the "eating disorder one too, because food addiction falls into that catagory.) but i'm running it by all of you because you guys know me the best.
17 days and no binging...but it's getting harder to avoid every day. the other night, dad brought home cake and two cartons of ice cream-one was lactose-free. i can't even tell you how good it felt to actually have a bowl of ice cream after being lactose intolerant for 4 years. then today, dad brought home full size hershey bars and resee's. it's all just calling my name...i want that cake in the worst way....it's crazy...i literally can't count how many times i've gone into the kitchen thinking "i'll just have ONE piece...." and then i think "and maybe a little ice cream. after all, i deserve it after not being able to have it for so long." and just when i'm about to cave, maria shows up, and looks up at me; meowing because she wants me to pick her up. i swear that little kitten is saving my life.
i want to talk to dad about how difficult this is, and how his bringing all the sweet stuff in the house makes not binging nearly impossible. but i know he loves us, and he enjoys bringing treats home for all of us. i don't want to hurt him or make him think i don't appreciate it. i also don't want to punish my siblings because i happen to be an addict. dad's hypoglysemia makes the situation even more complicated. there are times that his blood sugar drops really fast and he NEEDS chocolate in order to bring it back up. so what do i say? what do i do? HELP!!!!! please comment. even if you don't know how to help me talk to dad, comment. say something. it will make me feel better. i love you. thanks for sticking by me through this mess.-fallon

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
hugs
can see its really a hard situation. your dad really does love you... do you think if you just have one bowl of ice cream and 1 standard piece of chocolate you can stop there? maybe make it a rule.
i rekon just saying to dad could he give you what he'd or your siblings would call the right amount without leading to bingeing
im prob no good at advice but i hope it goes ok hugs
Not sure what to suggest that might actually work ... maybe ask Dad to bring you special treats that are less triggering and you'd feel ok eating? Yummy fruit or lowfat, single serving ice cream treats? (They make ones with soy or coconut milk if you're lactose intolerant.) Or better yet: flowers or a kind of shampoo that he knows you like. Also, if Dad needs chocolate for his blood sugar, does he need to keep it all over the house? Can't he keep a special stash in his office or someplace else? SIblings are harder - maybe they could keep a stash in their rooms, too, or at least confine it all to one cabinet in the kitchen. Then there's just one place to learn to avoid, instead of having it right in your face wherever you go. Or if you guys like ice cream, how about going out for it from time to time as a family, instead of keeping vats of it around the house? It could become a nice ritual.
I really like the idea of getting Dad to serve you a normal portion of a treat, if you can handle that w/o triggering. Not sure if I could do that quite yet.
Hope this helps a little!

More seriously? I'd either have a talk with dad explaining how hard this is for you and that you understand it's not his problem that you struggle this much but that it doesn't make it any easier, but I'd to that after you make a little plan for yourself, cutting the cake into a serving and putting it on a plate and not adding anything to it, but telling your dad your doing that to help yourself and why, it'll help you to take a bit of ownership of your problem and your dad see where you struggle.
Good luck!
