This is actually a GOOD thing because it means your metabolism is speeding up and repairing itself. Unfortunately, it does mean you need to eat more calories in order to gain. I know it can be tough, but adding in more healthy, but calorie dense foods is really helpful because you can get in more calories (I like to think of them as "energy beans" haha) without feeling too full. Here are done ways I fit in more calories:
-Drink 100% fruit juice or milk with meals
- dress up your fruits veggies ( never eat them naked)- so like if you have an apple or banana, have some peanut butter with it, or duo carrots in ranch dressing or hummus)
-eat low fat it full fat dairy products instead of fat free (the extra fat will not make you fat...promise! It's good for you and actually might help you get your periods back, too)
-calorie dense foods like dried fruits, nut butters, nuts, avocados, olive oil, cheese, eggs, dark chocolate, ice cream, etc
- you can make smoothies with fresh fruits (I like to freeze chopped bananas or strawberries for smoothies), ice cream or whole milk yogurt, ice, and maybe even some peanut butter- just blend it all together!
-you can also buy Ensure or Boost plus drinks to have in addition to meals/snacks. These are really helpful in adding more calories and they also have vitamins. Carnation Instant Breakfast is also good- it's a powder you mix with milk and it comes in a few flavors.
Hmmm, that's all I can think of right now. Are you working with a dietician? Do you have a meal plan you follow? I hope some of these ideas help!
