But when the bible says your body is gods temple, you should try not purposefully desacrate it. In my opinon an eating disorder is a mental disorder. So I would not say that God would look down upon a person with an eating disorder, but more or less try to help us get better and give us avenues in our lives to get help and NOT harm ourselves.
Too many people take what the bible says and goes straight to literal....I think a lot of the bible is more or less ways to live your life. God loves all of us. I like to look at God as compassionate. God would not abandon anyone just because of an eating disorder...... dose that make sense?
And sometimes God puts us through hard times to make us stronger. I forget the verse, but there is one in the bible that says
without suffering, there would be no compassion
So I guess I dont agree with what that women wrote entirely
Sin is only an archery term that means missing the mark, and no one is justified because we have been able to measure up. and This is not anything to be down about.
We all fall short and need grace..
Over eating. Binging, used to be called Gluttony. I would not get to caught up in the wording. God is able to give us grace to overcome..
admitting I sin is how I found my freedom! Only those who dont understand Grace would reject identifying sin in their life..
You see, I couldnt measure up all my life, and then I accpeted Jesus who came down from heaven and met me in my mess!!
Not because I was Good enough!!
I am totally free of shame and guilt and that awful sens eof not being good enough!!!
And that is through Christ, as a sinner and not because I was good enough!!
So only those that dont understand grace would have a problem with the word sin..
Mos people who dont understand the gospel will only add to the confusion. because they think calling our-self a sinner is beating our self up when in fact it is the source of my freedom!!
I think extreme selfishness is sin, and God wants us free from that, Much of Ed is very self centered and has people obsessed with Self and not Worshiping God... so in this respect i agree..
Finally, I am so glad I was able to come to God as a sinner and not because I measured up!!! Arent you?
WE are saved by grace not our goodness!! What liberty!! Most folks will never understand that !
Dont get too caught up in the term and miss the blessing in the book too.
