I think you are correct, you are bingeing because you are overwhelmed by flashbacks and nightmares. A good binge works wonders (short term only of course) in numbing our emotions. So in a way, you are trying to help yourself.
And so... the question is, are there better ways available for you to help yourself? Are you getting help with the PTSD? A good therapist and maybe a good medicine might make a big difference in how you can cope.
Also, trying to make a safe spot for yourself, no matter where, with a soft blanket and the certainty you won't be disturbed? With PTSD it is so so important to take time to process all that happens to you. You can't really prevent being triggered, but at least you can be good for yourself in the aftermath.
That way, you prevent the stress from stacking, which would be a trigger in itself.
