Did you know what specific personality disorder you were diagnosed with? I do not know much about personality disorders, but from what I have read, certain ones (especially borderline personality disorder and avoidant personality disorder) frequently co-occur with eating disorders.
I find it surprising the doctors at the hospital did not tell you what personality disorder they diagnosed you with (if that it the case). Have you told your current psychologist about this? If so, what did he/she say about it?
I would try not to worry too much about it. DSM diagnoses are just labels used mostly for insurance and billing purposes. Practitioners often disagree when it comes to diagnoses, and there is a lot of ambiguity surrounding many of the labels in the DSM. Try not to let it get to you too much. *Hugs*
They didn't tell me anything to do with a personality disorder or any diagnosis at the hospital they just pretty much couldn't get me out of the doors any quicker it seemed!
Yeah, I guess it doesn't make any difference but now they really don't treat me very seriously at all, like my GP now said like Yeah I'll do some tests but they'll be fine and whatever, and lets just hope you won't have to go to hospital again, and I don't really care what you're eating.. and stuff like that so its just like yeah, well thanks, that's really not going to be helping me at all.
Yeah, actually I have only really met this GP once or twice so maybe that's a good idea, its a new town getting a new GP wouldn't be too bad as things are still settling in and after the hospital admission on the first visit anyway, not quite good signs to begin with, so yes, I will probably try and do that.
That's really good to hear you have it all available there for you, I hope that you reach out for the help and understand that leaving it and letting it go doesn't fix or make the problems go away. Good luck xx
