oh dear.
I am trying so hard to stay strong, stay healthy. I am not so sure what happened, but I was struggling all day the past few days with restricting. I really felt okay about it, fine with the behaviours I have been trying so hard to mitigate for the pasy many years, which is what terrifies me the most. Does anyone else ever feel this way? I want so badly to have a normal relationship with food. I think that if I did, I would have better relationships with my people as well. But I can't seem to get a handle on it.

I understand all to well. I have had one form of a eating disorder all my life, I am 58 and have had anorexia for the past 9. I am at the low range of weight range but still have thoughts of restricting or thoughts and concerns of ganing anything. it is a constant battle. you say you have ecovered, this sounds lke a slip, do you know what is causing it? we all slip up but the key is to start using the tools learned and use them again. ed is very isolating and that just feeds into ed all the more. hugss

I can relate to this, my mom and I both have eating disorders and both started in childhood. Her's was overeating, mine was restricting. In high school the restricting got out of hand, I was told I'd be hospitalized if my labs dropped anymore. This made me angry enough to stop. Then in my 20's, I had a horrible job, used restricting to deal with some of the stress. I felt in control while being out of control at the same time. I don't know if this helps, but I tend to turn to restricting when things get too difficult, I start with a new therapist next month, will be talking to her about this. ann54 is right about using your tools. I hope things get better for you soon.

TW: I understand too. I was driving today and caught myself obsessing over food. I was hungry. I've been restricting too, and it catches up with me after a few days. I did well though. I came home and allowed myself to eat a piece of fruit, and then a bowl of vegies and rice for dinner. Now my stomach hurts more, and the obsessing continues, its all I can think about. Regret, beating myself up, guilt, lack of control, how I can restrict better tomorrow. This ED takes over my mind, controls every thought and Is extremely difficult to talk any sense into. I can't seem to get a handle on it either, on the constant criticism and obsessing over food. I will continue to force myself to eat, I have to stay healthy. Keep listening to the voice that gives yourself permission to eat and be healthy. Its SO hard to hear sometimes, or permit, but its there. At least I know it is for me, when I'm willing to allow those thoughts. You reached out here and admitted you're struggling, that tells me you want to be healthy too. Keep fighting ED. You're not alone.
