My cat, the one that saved me from all this rollercoaster bullshit a few years back, she died today. I took her to the vet and they spend the last hour of her life poking and prodding and testing her. When thye brough her back into the room, the vet was telling me how her kidneys had failed and how she was going to die withing a few weeks that the humane thing would be to put her down today or tomorrow. They left to give me a few minutes and she died. I don't know what to do, it hurts so fucking much. She was always there, she was just a baby. She was my baby. I have nothing to live for. Yeah, that's dramatic, but it's true. I just want to crawl on bed and waste away.
it reminds me of how thankful I am for my own physical body, and how it is functioning so well after so much abuse.

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over together.
I actually just lost a cat too. She was 20 years old and her name was Chloe. She was in my house even before I was born (I am 18). So I do know how it is to lose a pet that you have been close to.
Losing a pet is often as hard as losing a person. So no matter what anyone says, allow yourself to grieve as long as you need to.
When Chloe died, she was cremated and her ashes are in an urn with her picture on it in our house. However, we also created a separate memorial for her outside with flowers and a stone with her name on it. In this way, if we ever move we can take her ashes with us, and the memorial provides a place to meditate and be with her. You might try this as a way to remember her if you haven't decided yet.

When you are ready you will fall in love with another kitty, so be open for that when the time comes. SO many homeless kitties and so few loving homes!
