I was just wondering if it is really bad to drink with in ED. I mean I know it is initially bad for you but it probably isn't that good for when there is an eating disorder in the mix. I know this is probably a stupid question but I really have no idea??? Thanx

I think drinking is especially bad for ED people, because they often substitute one addiction with another. So you might recover from ED but if you never solved what caused your ED you might become an alcoholic or a drug user or self injure. So if you are already started any of those while on ED it is so easy to make them into an addiction

I assume you are talking about alcohol? My advice would be to steer clear, one because of the dependency issues, also when we are pi**ed we do stupid things don't also I am sure that numbing your already mixed emotions would further supress your ED, and complicate a possible medical condition.

ditto what Karrin and Fane said but also it dehydrates you which is never a good thing for dehydrated ED sufferers. It's also a central nervous system depressant so it's never a good thing for depressed ED sufferers either. XO

I agree with the rest and i also find that when i go out drinking and become a bit worse for wear my stomach is really un-comfy the next few days and i get very drunk very quickly on not very much so its better to steer clear i think! X

Drinking while having an ED or recovering from an ED can worsen the symptoms. It is a depressant, adding to the mood instability that a lot of us feel with an ED, making it more likely to commit suicide. I have nearly done it myself, so I gave up drinking. Also, drinking is just another negative coping mechanism.

i agree with all the others, I was drinking heavily for awhile, not eating, just drinking.. I hope this is not a trigger, but when I was in a treatment center, the nutrionist, told me that due to the drinking, is what really kept me alive. I no longer drink and have been sober for 11 months.. It feels great.. I wish I could give Ed up that easy.. Once you stop drinking, though, you feel better, but you still have to deal with any issues. Drinking is a substitute, and only covers your pain for abit.. I do not know how much you drink, but I would stop, before it gets out of hand.. Love and Peace
