It sounds like you have worked really hard on your recovery and that you have so much to be proud of. It's hurtful when people don't recognize that and say mean things.
It was brave of you to reach out here and express yourself.
I am glad you were able to gain back the weight and recover - are you working with a therapist to help you with this? Is the therapist helping you to learn how to feel your feelings and express them safely? ED's are coping mechanisms we use when our feelings are so strong and it's not safe to express them. For example: being hurt and angry when your aunt said that was the right way to feel. You said you wanted to cry - did you let yourself cry? I know I would have cried an ocean if someone said that to me (I think I did 'way back when' but not in front of anyone). ((hugs))
I am so proud of you for how far you've come in this recovery process. And you should be proud too! You've reached out to people on here which is such a brave step.
Now comes more of the emotional recovery. It's great how you've identified your emotions in this situation. You said you still hate yourself every time you eat something, which is probably something to work on. Maybe a journal where you identify your feelings before and after a meal may help? I'm wondering if you have experience seeing a therapist? Often times, he or she really helps in bringing emotions out on the table. I didn't even realize my ED stemmed from my emotions and past until I started seeing a therapist.
I hope these tips are helpful and I hope you are doing okay! Remember, it's okay to be sad - you have every right to be. Let me know if you have any questions. Sending hugs your way!!
