I would recommend reading some books on addiction as they have helped me tremendously in understanding just how addictions work and how they affect us.
One thing to remember about any addiction is that they are all progressive so if you are concerned about alcohol, then yes, you should be worried. Alcohol for the most part (especially if you're a wine drinker like I was) is nothing but sugar. Once I came off the alcohol I craved tremendous amounts of sugar, candy, desserts which I had never eaten in my entire adult life (I'm 47).
Now I'm putting in to place what I learned becoming sober (through books, support, etc.) in order to help understand and get my food addiction under control.
