Did you notice that directly under the 'severe anorexia' category, it says "urgent." You need to be hospitalized, and please don't deny it! Missy, you're less than 10 lbs away from where you were when you were in Oct '06. Whether it's mostly ED, or "stomach flu" that's causing this, you ARE in danger and I hope your doctor is watching you very closely.

(And it's going on 2am in your state. Can't sleep? That's another symptom of anorexia/low weight.)

i dont have any evidence of system failure (thank god) so i dont have severe anorexia in that respect...i was just going on the bmi....

im sry but i beg to differ with u on that one...i think that some of us have a better grip on reality when it comes to handling our Eds than others do...some people are more gone to their disorder and therefore suffer from it more....

I guess with my BMI I don't have anorexia at all? But I have to be since I could have dropped dead this summer. I can't go to a website to give my disorder a contrast. I think it could possibly set me back and all I want to do right now is look forward, that's just me though. XOXO

Why would a psychological disorder need physical requirements in order for a diagnosis to be made? What other psychological disorders require physical symptoms?

Again, I don't like that DSM and I'm posting in regards to GABRADOR's comment. The DSM gives a stigma of people with eating disorders being 'less serious' and people feel invalidated who have it if they don't meet all the DSM requirements. I feel the diagnostic criteria is too specific and limited and needs to change. It shouldn't be based on BMI. Anyone who has an ED should know that ED's are not about WEIGHT. Any level of an ED mentally needs the exact same amount of attention. Physically it depends on where they person is at. People can drop dead of cardiac complications, dehydration, you name it, even if they haven't reached that pinnacle of 17.5 so why should that requirement be in the criteria for Anorexia? Having that standard just gives people with EDs one more thing to obsess over. If these charts want to keep their elitist group of XXBMI or XX% of weight lost or XXlbs, so be it. But who is that helping? Mentally, it is just as bad. All eating disorders are awful.
