I've had anorexia/bulimia for months now. It wasn't that bad at the beginning but it's been really bad the past month or two. I've had extreme mood changes. Sometimes I'm happy and full of excitement, but other times I'm upset and emotionally drained. Depression is an issue for me as well, but I try my best to hide it from others. My throat has been hurting a lot recently and the other day I threw up blood. I knew that wasn't a good sign so I tried to take a break from throwing up. I'm doing my best to keep it under control but I've still done it almost every day. I have yet to tell my parents about what is going on. I barely eat anymore, and if I do I usually end up purging because I feel guilty and stupid. I got through the whole weekend, eating regularly with my family and not purging. But Sunday night I couldn't take it anymore. Instead of throwing up I cut myself. I cut my leg so that no one would see it. It's not that bad. It could be a lot worse. Afterwards I ended up purging again. & now I'm back to resisting food and purging. I'm worried about my health and I don't know what to do anymore..

Of course I'd advise you to tell your parents :) Doing that might help manage the problem sooner rather than later. I know where you're coming from with the eating disorder and cutting, and it's not a fun place to be. These diseases cause havoc in our bodies and you deserve to be a healthy, happy teenager. Please reach out and get the help you need. Hugs to you!

No matter what I had to go through I was willing, if it didn't involve my parents. I understand if they are the last people you'd ever want to ask for help. It's not until we are much older that we realize how much our parents only wanted the best for us. I am a cutter too, though its been years fortunately, but I couldn't ask for help, I didn't believe my parents wanted to help me and I'd have rather died than ask them for anything. All these feelings are valid, and still, when it comes down to it who else loves you as much as they do? If you can talk to them from a place of honesty, they will support you. And if not, find someone else who cares. Its such a lonely place to be. I hope you're brave enough to ask for help, I know its not easy. Sending you love and light that you will be able to escape the years of torture that ED's create for those of us too afraid to seek help. HUGS!!!!!! You're not alone.

couldn't say it better the above. I too could never have talked to my parents as a teenager, I was already I nvolved in various eating disorders, eating secretly because I was "chubby" and my mother didn't like that so I was fed different foods. I am 58 and I don't think anyone even knew what the illness was. I did have a friends mother who was like a mother to me that I could confide in about anything without judgement, it was wonderful. if you can talk to your parents, they love you very much and likely don't know how to approach the topic, try it out and see what happens. if not how about a school counselor? someone you trust who can find ways to help. you are in a dangerous path and you are so young I want you to be happy and have fun. hugss

You posted this a long time ago. How are you doing now? I can message you if you'd prefer and want someone to talk to. Please let me know. I am hiding the severity of my ED from my mom/family too. I know eventually though, I'm going to need their support if I'm going to recover. Its hard, for me at least, I feel like a failure for not being cured of this ED. You sounded then, like you were in incredible pain. I hope you have found support and that things have improved. We're here for you please let us know how you're doing!
