The only thing that I can suggest is to practice at home reading the material so that you know it before going to work. If you have Firefox you could highlight the material and have it read to you and you could repeat the way the words are pronounce. With me it is about just remember the word and how to say it. I cannot if i read the material out loud to people, absorb it at the same time. So it is all about practicing and read books or magazine or having the material read to you out loud so you can recognize more words. I hope this helps.

When i read out loud in front of people i have to read it 5 or 6 times in my head before I read out loud.and when its my turn to read, I just read but i have no idea what i just read. I everyone in the room have to read a page out loud I count how many people have to read a page in front of me , then i know what page I'm going to read and I read it in my head 5 to 6 times before its my turn to read. That what i do if that helps i don't know.

Its something to look into. I'm willing to try everything to read out loud and not sound like I'm in first grade

Are you trying to hide your dyslexia from others or improve the way you read out aloud?

As I have stated in previous posts, I dont hide my dyslexia from people but quite the opposite, I tell everyone and find people are not only very understanding but often offer to help. In the work place people have had me read to them out aloud before the day so I can practice with them first, you could get your friends to do this for you so come the day you have to do it in front of people it isnt so daunting.

Also you copy what you are to read in to more manageable peaces, shorter paragraphs and print it out to read on the day, maybe in a little larger font or on to cards.

Those are just some trick I have learned over the years.

I guess its not so much hiding as it is fighting to show it.... I haven't had the positive help you have, mostly I get laughed at or singled out. I've been trying to not show in a way that gets me singled out again.

I think I'll try reading it out loud, in pieces.

i wish i was like zipper1138, put i don't have friend, so i do get laughed at allot that why i hide it i guest.

Oh I have been laughed at loads in my life and my school days were a nightmare and the bullying has left me with a great deal of problems, I was bullied by the teachers as much if not more than the kids!

To this day public speaking sets of panic attacks and I am actually frightened of children because of what they represent and the hell I went through as a child.

And yes I have met a few adults that have been less than sympathetic but for the most part that has stopped now and as far as ignorant people are concerned, well they can go play with traffic!

Depression is my greatest problem these days but like my dyslexia I dont hide it all the time but I am more couscous as to whom I confide in as, wrongly, mental illness still has a very bad stigma attached to it, but things are improving and when appropriate I tell people so they can see that depression doesnt mean sitting in a dark corner contemplating The Darkness all the time.
