Dry Eyes Support Group
Dry eyes is an eye disease caused by decreased tear production or increased tear film evaporation. Symptoms include burning and a sandy-gritty eye irritation that gets worse as the day goes on. The symptoms are often caused by a loss of water from the tears that results in tears that are too "salty" or hypertonic.
Does anyone else find themselves having more conjunctivitis (pink eye) since their dry eye syndrome began?
I've had a couple of bouts over the last few months and suspect it is bacterial conjuctivitis and suspect it is caused by my inability to wash my hands each time before I use eye drops or gel.
I can't figure out how to get around this since, when my eyes are really dry I am putting something in my eyes every few minutes.

No, I don't get conjunctivitis, although I've had dry eye sydrome for a few years now.

My doctor said that my conjunctivitis is caused by sever dry eyes and is not infections - not caused by bacteria or virus. I also have fibromyalgia which causes inflammation in the body. So it is also causing inflammation in the lining of my eye. I was surprised to realize that conjunctivitis is not always infectious or contagious. I hope you eyes are feeling better.

I carry a very strong hand sanitizer in my purse so i can sanitize my eyes. If I touch them which I do they sting like crazy. So cleaning them is essential

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
