What steps do I need to take for vertigo

About 2 months ago I was sick to my stomach and in the bathroom for a while. I decided I needed to just lie down on the bathroom floor. As soon as I did the room started spinning. I called my mom because I knew she had suffered from this. She said to take a dramamine and it did help. But ever since then I have mild vertigo that comes and goes. It scares me and I don't know what to do. Where do I start? My regular doctor, ENT? What kind of tests will they do? I'm not having headaches. I'm sure that little episode just got everything out of whack. I've heard of the Eply maneuver but I'm scared to do it; it sounds awful. Thank you for any suggestions!

You need to talk to your doctor. There are all sorts of reasons why people suffer with vertigo, but tests will have to be done. I've suffered for with dizzyness for about 15 years and I'm still having tests now. I was told I had vestibular vertigo. Some types of vertigo can be treated with medication/physio. Talk to your doctor and see what they think. Hope you're feeling better soon. x

Hi, I'm very sorry to hear about your attack! I understand how you feel, I've suffered from Vestibular Neuritis for the last 4 years (which means bouts of spinning vertigo and then left with off balance and dizzy feeling, battle with reading, fast moving objects, concentration and fatigue) and the only thing that really helps me is vestibular rehabilitation excersises; physiotherapists do this, but not all of them, you need to find someone who specialises in this. In my experience they are also alot better at diagnosing the problem than an ENT. Have a look a the VEDA (Vestibular Disorders Association) website www.vestibular.org, they have alot of very interesting info.
