Hi, I am puzzled. I was diagnose with Meniere's disease about 9 months ago. I was put on a diaretic and told to go on a low salt diet. I have never had tinnitus and the room spinned only once and it was very brief. The dizziness seems to have subsided except when I make a quick turn but I have been feeling ligheaded. It is especially pronouced when I get up from a lying down position. I saw my doctor several days ago and she suggested I cut down on the diuretic. I am not taking 12.5 mg of HCTZ per day. So far still feeling ligheadedness. I cannot help but wonder if this is the Meniere's or something else is going on. Any thoughts? With the diuretic and low salt diet my blood pressure has been good although before being put on the diuretic I did have mild hypertension. Thanks.

Sometimes vestibular disorders are difficult to tell apart. I was initially diagnosed with Meniere's disease 10 years ago. Now, the doctors don't think I ever had it. Instead, they think my vertigo is caused by positional vertigo (BPPV) and vestibular migraines. BPPV can cause a general feeling of lightheadedness and also can cause symptoms when you make sudden turns. Did you see an ENT for the Meniere's disease diagnosis? Perhaps try seeing a neurologist or vestibular therapist for a second opinion.

Actually, I did see an ENT who specializes in dizziness and I also saw a neurologist who referred me to the ENT.

I think that this site will help you with resources and links, but how others have dealt with similar issues.

I have had the opposite, kinda of. I have had lightheadness and vertigo since I can remember. But my dr. at the time said I had really low bp and put me on salt pills. But since then my sypmtoms have progressed and I was recently dx with MS. I still don't believe it since I haven't had the typical symptoms of MS, mine are quite "odd" too much to tell here.
