I posted two and a half weeks ago that I had vertigo. The first time I had it was in 2009. Since the episode this last time, I have had it two or three times while I was in bed. I saw my doctor for a follow up yesterday, he said to start taking the meclizine again and go to the ent. He assured me it's not my brain, just an inner ear issue.
I called this morning and made an appt. with the ent, couldn't get in until August 9th. The scheduler was really chatty, telling me about her experience with vertigo. She said she had an MRI. I didn't have one in 2009, and my doctor didn't mention one this time. She said sometimes vertigo is caused by a brain tumor!! I was freaking out!! She said that I could call my pcp and ask for an MRI before I see the specialist, so I made an appointment for tomorrow.
Has anybody else had a MRI or have any thoughts or insight on this?? Thanks so much!!
I had an MRI, very loud machine. Interesting pictures. Completely normal.
My vertigo was hard to figure out -- and it was actually a combination of bad dental crowns and autoimmune diabetes. It took years to get them figured out. And the doctors were absolutely no help because they weren't looking in the right places, and also because they just thought I was psychosomatic nutjob.
6+ years of damaging blood sugars, and all they had to do was give me an A1C test. And ENT and doctors don't think about dental work, it seems. But that's just me. You should get tests out, keep a journal, and start doing a process of elimination. Get the MRI, and make sure it's not a brain tumor. You'll have a pretty picture of your brain on CD, too.
