I have no idea why I have vertigo. I wish I did. I have BPPV, according to the ENT. I feel good some days and not so good other days. My mom has had dizziness so maybe I inherited it from her? (Thanks Mom!!)

I think Mine has manifested from TMJ. TMJ mimic Meniere's disease. The symptoms are horrific. I was lucky to NOT have any locking in my jaws. But that's about it. I get everything else. Maybe if I can correct my bite my symptoms will diminish.

Some do. I got a friend I went to school with...Long story longer.LOL She had it too. While we are catching up on old times and comparing symptoms, she was suffering too. Well, she got braces and all is well with her! I am so envious how she is symptom free now. So I guess it all depends on the severity of the dysfunction. And I no mine is very bad!
I'm seeing a neuromuscular dentist Evey month but got a huge set back from treatments because I get pregnant every year! LOL And I Cant get the treatments being pregnant.

yea when u pregnant cant get much stuff i have 4 of my own but 2 are grown up know and my youngest ones are 14 and 7 and 22 and 20 3 boys and 1 daughter shes the oldest

I have bilateral vestibular hypofunction.
In other words, I have damage to both of my inner ears.
Mine was most likely caused by a virus I had when I was 21.
I am 38 now.

New to the group and to DS. I've been dealing with vertigo as a side effect of Zoloft. I've been tapering off of Zoloft for one month now and still have days where the vertigo is bad. I was prescriped the zoloft in March of this year. Down to taking one 100mg zoloft once a week and hoping the vertigo will disappear when I'm done tapering! Sorry to hear that so many of you suffer from it, especially those that will likely deal with it chronically. It really is no fun.

wow zoloft thats to bad a drug give u that i hope it does go away for you me i dont think so been 10 years know and the more i read about it the more i have a hard time to accepting it

I hope your vertigo wears off as you taper the zoloft. My dizziness is on and off and I am trying to be thankful that it's not constant. But sometimes I feel bad and get to feeling sorry for myself. Anyway, nice to have you here with us.

I know! I am having the hardest time adjusting to "acquiring" the disorder all over again now that I no longer have the BrainPort.
It is really awful to feel "normal" and then have to give it up.

theresa I'm sorry to hear that you have dealt with vertigo for so long! It's so annoying and disorienting. I only suffer from it every so often and that alone is plenty more than I'd like. I hope the doctor's have given you (and everyone else that suffers vertigo!) something that provides relief! I was told that it would fix itself and they gave me nothing but a pat on the back and a "Hang in there, kiddo".

At least I can report good news. My primary doctor told me this afternoon that I can stop taking Zoloft all together! Yay! This is a very good day for me! I am dealing with a bit of minor vertigo, nothing bad enough to stop me from daily activity though. I'm off to have a chest ct scan in a half hour, hopefully the good news will keep comin!
