Dizziness is the sensation of instability. Vertigo refers to dizziness with a sensation of motion. Vertigo is more likely than other types of dizziness to be associated with nausea, vomiting, or double vision, to occur even when lying down, and to feel better with the eyes closed. I went back east for a long weekend in December. I came back and a few days later I got the nastiest cold ever. After Christmas I kinda got flu like....then 12/27 bppv kicked in. I had to wait unti Jan 2 before I could be seen. Doing the Eply did not help. I could function, but I felt hungover and like there is a magnet pulling the top of my head. I slept with 2-3 pillows under my head, then after all this I went innto my doc's PA and she fixed me....a few manuevers....a couple days of restrictions and boom...good again. I don't understand why my doing the exercises doesn't work. I wonder what the triggers are. She said they don't really know for sure, but she had a few patients that got sick and then needed the repositioning. When I woke up the nextday, I could tell I was better because that hangover feeling was gone....however, I did not test my self until the full 48 hours had gone by.
I have a huge amount of stress in my life. I lost my FT job 18 months ago and I am still looking. I temp when I can and I do have a PT job.I have a very very sick brother. My husband is a SO and until I can support myself, I am stuck in this unhealthy house. I have been prssured to move back east, but my only child lives here and I am not ready to leave him....I may never be....soI will try more salt out of my diet, sleep with 2 pillows, drink more water...you know...do things I can control...any other suggestions. The PA says maybe this will work. It was 3 months since my 1st bout of BPPV and I f-ing hate it!!! The spin and magnet in my head feeling is the worst.

I haven't had vertigo for a while, so consider myself lucky. I had menieres dis, with left hearing loss.
I still have the imbalance feeling, but vertigo is def a killer.
I too eat foods with lower salt, and lots of water.

It happened again the same time this year. Except the HMO sent me to their auditory department and the person did moments that only caused the BVVP to get worst and my one eye when I went in wasn't rolling so bad, but went I left it was jumping so bad and after that I ented up every time I had the BVVP incident, I would be clinging to walls for a half hour to an hour because I could not gain back my balance to walk. I had never had the spooky loss of balance for 30 -60 minutes before.
Last night I was sent to an ortho rehab locally and the woman worked on doing the movements to correct and it seems like she got it. But because I had problems with the last person not doing it correctly, she is calling me on Friday to find out if I have had any BVVP recurrence and if so, she'll schedule me in right away for one more appointment that is allowed by my insurance carrier.
I unfortunately had someone visit me the other week and they were sitting in the living room near me when I had a BVVP incident and my eyes began rolling/jumping and they were horrified and thought I was going into a seizure or something. I just closed my eyes and told them I'm okay, give me a few moments and I'll explain. How embarassing to happen. People have never heard of this.
