Dizziness & Vertigo Support Group
Dizziness is the sensation of instability. Vertigo refers to dizziness with a sensation of motion. Vertigo is more likely than other types of dizziness to be associated with nausea, vomiting, or double vision, to occur even when lying down, and to feel better with the eyes closed. If you are a frequent sufferer of dizziness or vertigo, join the group and find support.
Maybe its the added feedback of air moving on my skin. Or maybe it's more like driving. On a bike, I just basically follow the red and green, then go with the cars. Probably, though, its 'cause I don't look at the ground so much when I'm on the bike.
When walking, I can't stand up and simultaneously make sense of the crosswalk signals vs. the traffic lights -- "Green light for cars, sign says 'Walk,' but drivers might turn and run me over. So, I should wait ... or not?" All the scenarios combined with the physical oddness, puts my head on overload.
My Neurologist said she had the exact same problem when she had vertigo, and basically she had to rely on other people to go first, so she could follow. She advised that, when walking, you oughta try looking up more and focus on objects in the distance, as if they were little goals to reach.
