Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
My ex started "acting out" in the 24th year of our marriage and finally owned up to being with his current wife (his colleague and mistress then) ten days before our "make-up not break-up" 24th anniversary trip to Virginia where, if I'm not mistaken, the tourism slogan is, ironically "Virginia is for lovers". hmmmm.
Good for you that you have found happiness!
Hugs to you and to all of us
I still get lonely and know it will take some time to adjust to being in a retirement village. But I would never
go back. I was alone when I was with him.
I know. ..you're thinking I've been out of it long enough that I don't remember the pain. Wrong! I may not feel the pain anymore, but I will never forget the feeling that my life was over and wanting to die. Yes...you read that right. I never actually tried to end my life, but I sure prayed for it. So, believe me, I have been where you are and by the grace of God, I am still here...stronger than I was before and now know what true love feels like and what was missing for almost 30 years. Some of you may choose to be happy alone. Others may give love another chance someday, but it all takes time. ..more for some than for others. Be patient with yourself, let loved ones in and you, too will find your way to a happier and more peaceful life.
Hugs to you all and God bless each and every one of you.
