I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
My husbad and I have been having serious problems for the last several years. Today, he told me that he is done trying and he wants a divorce. It isn't a total shock, but I know there is a long road ahead. I already have some recommendations for a lawyer, and I will be calling on Monday to set up a consultation. I've also left a message with a therapist to set up an appointment.
I've hung around on DS long enough to know the drill on what I need to do to take care of myself. I don't really have anything to ask at this point. Maybe I'm scared of the uncertainty of it all, and I just don't want to feel alone,

You are wise to already have an atty. and therapist. The best thing I did was my atty. and the therapist that was recommended to me.When I have had a need that need has been filled. When a door has shut I have blindly walked thru another open door trusting I will be taken care of. I wouldn't trade a thing I have done and I don't regret the decision I made to end my marriage.I am happier now than I was in my marriage.
