Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

Ok I'm finally admitting that I DID go on a date. I kept denying it was a date since he is an old friend from grade school (8th grade). I haven't seen or really spoken to him since we went separate ways in high school. I was public school and he was catholic school. Well he connects with me on facebook and lives very close to where I just moved to in Florida. We connected and decided to meet up at a local bar. No biggy. Kinda flirty but more interviewing than anything. This wasn't the date just a reconnect since my daughter and friends were with me. Ok we briefly text and talk on phone back n forth for about 5 months, maybe once every other week. We did meet up again, not a date, at a waterpark while my X was in town to be with my daughter. He connected with me to take my mind off of things. Still not really a date. Then once again nothing going on between us. Well I had this Christmas Party of a friend that I got invited to. Pretty much couples. I went the previous year alone. This year I called and he said YES! Ok it's officially a date now. I get all dressed up and he comes to the house to pick me up, opens the car door, etc. I'm a nerveous wreck!!! Afraid I'm going to trip over my high heels. So we go to the party where I have a few friends there. I'm all into this now. Its at her house and its lit up with candles and christmas trees and christmas lights everywhere. Looks like something from a magazine its so elegant. The ambiance is perfect. We have a GREAT time! I give him plenty of outs to drop me back home but instead we go to local bar we met at before with my friends who are all bachlors this party since their wives (my friends) all went to Vegas. Anyway, it was nice to be the center of 5 men's attention!! We leave to head back home my daughter was also at another party with her friends. We sit in his car and talk and laugh for about an hour in the parking lot. I don't know if I missed some makeout que here or not but absolutely nothing happened. I really did want to makeout though. Anyway we go back to my house and my daughter isn't home yet so I invite him in. (another out if he wanted it) I show him my place and we sit in living room and just talk somemore. Well my daughter comes home a little tipsy. She decides to stay in kitchen on her computer while were in the livingroom. Pretty soon I hear a big "Slump!" I knew that sound! I go in the kitchen and my daughter fell out of her wheelchair!!!!! We both pretty much busted out laughing. I kept thinking she didn't just do this? How could she have done this to me? Well we just had to laugh. I called my friend in to help me pick her off the floor and put her back into her chair. He comes in the kitchen and sees both of us on the floor laughing and says, "I don't find this very funny!" I could have died. Needless to say he hugged me when he left and I didn't hear from him for about 3 days after. Nice guy would like to get together more often but I think we scared him away. It WAS a date and I enjoyed every minute!! Only thought of my X once after returning home all gitty thinking this is what my X must have been thinking when he went out with his girlfriend. I tried not to let it get to me. But it did. I still can't figure out my friend. He still text and calls occasionally. But no 2nd date.

I had gone to the grocery store. When I wheeled my cartback to my car I just stool there a minute. A few spacesaway a Tesla Cyber truck was parked. I had seen it on theroad a few times for a few seconds. But not close up.It looked like it belonged to 2126 and not 2026. I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away. It was an ordinary middle age...

Oh well--welcome to the Land of Men and Dating. Things don't always work out but it's always entertaining.
It sounds like he's not rushing into anything but would like to continue being friends. Maybe there is that 3-dates rule about kissing. I have no idea. Maybe he wants to get to know you better and give you the grace of time.
His reaction to your giggling fit over the fall seems a little odd, but not enough to write him off yet. Maybe he's a little afraid of the responsibility of your daughter's situation. That doesn't mean he isn't willing.
I'd take it slow. Enjoy whatever comes. Don't rush. If there is no love, there can still be friendship.
But then, I am no expert at this, so you don't have to listen.
