Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Sorry to hear about your Dad. Draw your strength from
God, friends and loved ones to help you through this sad time.
Kathi's poem is beautiful. Think on those things.
And remember the huge difference you made in his life by being there through the years. You have much to proud of. You made his life so much more than it would have been without you in it. That makes a huge difference. Believe me, I know this to be true.
The only thing that bothered me the whole weekend was that because of my ex and his shenanigans, I could not afford to fly my boys and DIL in for the funeral. I worried about my sons throughout the day and how they were coping. They spent a lot of time with him throughout the years and felt a closeness with him. When he passed away Wed. night, neither of my sons could speak and they were in tears. It is so hard trying to be their Mom and Dad both and you hope you are able to pull that off. Then of course, God provides! The Church teens in Idaho Falls decided it would be a group effort to keep Ryan busy all day and my DIL made it her business to keep Jordan busy, getting ready for baby. That was so helpful to me. They both texted throughout the day to make sure I was OK and they seemed to be good. Grandpa was very proud of them.
However, as to your sons and no funds, there's another reason to bring you back down to earth in the knowledge that in your old life, this wouldn't have happened. You were robbed again.
I'm sure you can find the words and the feelings to get over this, but it's not right, it wasn't right but it will be again soon. You could, have needed, might have wanted, major hugs and support today, but it's good that others looked after your kids.
Dianne, it's so not right for you to go through this without your family, when others have everyone. But we all here are in the same boat and you are contented and that's the main thing. Hugs from over the Pacific Ocean. We are all here in spirit.
