Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

WTconfused......okay since you have no profile pic or pics of any sort I vote a picture of said kilt and legs!!!! ;o)
inquiring minds wanna know! LOL!!!
But that being said..I think society is changing and we can't stop it...no way, no how...so what is the answer? Facing what is, how our society is evolving and develop functional ways to manage our lives in light of these changes.
I do believe that if our government is who is marrying us, they have a responsibility to protect the institution with all the knowledge and research out there to support it, why not provide access to free counseling every 5 years...money I guess? But it would save money in the long run right? Hmmmm, not a bad idea...I am going to look into this, maybe we can change things? Are there groups/forums we could support for this type of program?
I'm new here by the way found you all on the Breakup and Divorce group.
If a government doesn't administer it, then the couple themselves should make a COMMITMENT to see a marriage counselor and/or attend a MARRIAGE RETREAT once a year or every five years if such a thing is available. Most of the larger churches around here sponsor those kinds of retreat on a yearly basis.
I know for a fact, however, that my X would have never gone to any of that stuff. It requires looking inward, and that's something he NEVER wanted to do. It was so much easier to point his finger and play the "
Blame Game".
But I'll start with WTconfused: My vote is on legs! Do be careful of the wind...otherwise, you'll end up like the famous picture of Marilyn Monroe !!!!
Now for the laughs, Diane can tell you that I was literally laughing out loud when she called. You guys are the best! I can honestly say, I have found this to be the most entertaining thing of my week. WT, I can't wait to read why you have a kilt and tobywinn, the visual you gave me was hilarious. In fact, this discussion has been FULL of very interesting (comedic) visuals!
This is what I enjoy MOST about being part of this group -- how we can find humor in even the most difficult of subjects and how we get into this friendly banter with each other.
Have a great weekend, my friend, and STAY TUNED!
And I do want to welcome you Diane - even though I know how hard this all is for you right now. It takes time to heal from such a wound. But as many of us know, it helps to hear the accounts of what other people have had to deal with and how they resolved important issues and eventually moved on. I think you will find this group very helpful. My prayers and thoughts are with you! Big Hugs to you!!!
