Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

Was hoping they were gone forever but I guess not.... I am on vacation this week. Got all the obligations taken care of and thought I'd use the rest of my days for fun.... well... you know what they say about the best laid plans...

All my "fun" plans have fallen through.. petered out.... and I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. Was going to go away - I'm all packed, the dog has her spot reserved at the kennel and I can't make myself get out of the house. It would be the perfect time to go find a beach to sit on and I'm frozen, sitting here feeling sorry for myself. I don't usually feel loneliness too much - I really do like my own company - but right this moment - lonely has taken me hostage.

This will pass... it always does... just wish it would hurry up!

Yes, there are days like that. Sometimes, even when I have something fun to do,, I just want to pull the covers over my head.

The feeling will pass and when it does, get going and enjoy your vacation!

sweetie, i could have written your post last month, flights, room and dog boarded.. was frozen.. BUT i did go, not for the week i had wanted but for 5 days.. it was wonderful, new surrounding, not having to think about all the crap i left behind.. I hope you do get yourself moving and go ( I say this knowing how hard this can be sometimes..) Big hugs sent your way..

am sorry, nothing we say will take your pain away right now. Someone here said this is like a death and we get though it faster facing each stag and then moving on. hugs for your day

Thanks for coming to my pity party everyone... lol.. yes, this will pass and when I go back to work next week I'm going to be aggravated with myself for wasting time feeling sorry for myself.

It's strange, but I get like that sometimes when I am poised and ready to pack my bag and take off for a trip -- whether it's by myself or with Tom. A friend told me once it's a normal anxiety that a lot of women have and it has something to do with "leaving the hearth unattended."

I'm hoping that by tomorrow morning, you will feel differently and get on your way!

GO!!! Even if you cry in the car the whole way there and back -- you will be proud of yourself for going anyway! You can do it! I know its hard...I've had days like that too...but it feels so much better to push through it and force yourself to go -- no matter what.
Dont change your plans -- you will be letting yourself down and if you go you will feel a new strength.

I was really looking forward to my trip south in March, and then a week or so before I was booked to go I went through exactly what is happening to you. I journalled about it here and my friends helped me pull through.

As was previously pointed out, it is likely related to some anxiety related to change...but the change WILL do you good. You just need to get there to feel it. Better days ahead, I promise! I did not think I could get on the plane, truly, but I did and those days on the beach were rejuvenating and healing....GO!!! Hugs to you

Thanks everyone for your great encouragement! Although things did look a little different this morning - the friend I was going to go see had an emergency so I'm still not going after all. Everything happens for a reason - perhaps that 'frozen' was my gut telling me that I wasn't supposed to go - saved me a 4.5 hr one way drive. So... I guess I'll just have to figure out a plan B. I'm going to try to look at this in a positive light - maybe there's something better in my immediate future!!
