It makes sense. The flight, no matter how short in miles is usually the longest. I'm sorry it went this way.

Thank you all for your wonderful words of encouragement. I knew I would find comfort here. Now my Dad and my Mom raised me to find God's love in all circumstance but they also raised me to find humor in everything so let me tell you Mello, I laughed out loud when you said the shortest journey. Let me tell you about my journey. I taught all day yesterday and got things ready for people to sub for me. Then I had my son and DIL take me to Columbus last night because there was a snow storm coming in. So after missing a connecting flight because of de-icing for an hour (waiting in line and then de-icing) and being rerouted across America, I have been to Newark, NJ (NYC looked beautiful), Houston, San Antonio and then Austin. so it wasn't very short. Mel, I knew you would laugh with me. The good news is that my Dad is conscious and
knows I'm here. I don't think he will be OK but I think he is fine with that. Since when did health care workers start deciding your fate? And that it's OK to starve or dehydrate someone if they are going to die anyway? My brothers and I decided to tell hour children, kill me with Blue Bell ice cream. It OK . Anyway my Dad won't be starving. Thank you all!!! Oh and doing this alone is no different than my marriage. He's not here now and he was busy with OW when my Mom died 2 summers ago so nothing has changed. Thank you all!!!

I'm so sorry Drtexdi - it's hard to lose a parent. I lost both of mine and they were so young... Sending my thoughts and prayers your way. It will be ok... He will be with you always.

I am very glad we had that evening because today has been the opposite of that. He could only taste and even then we had to suction out some of it so he wouldn't choke. He woke up this morning with quite a bit of deterioration in his status. Tonight he rested really well for about 4 hours and the last 2 1/2 hours have been bad. He coughs up stuff and I have to suction it out so he won't choke. At least in the time it took me to write this he hasn't gotten choked but that changes from one moment to the next. I think he is ready but the body hasn't given up yet. I know he will be at peace with my Mom soon! And I'm sure he does too!! I am like my Dad in that it takes a whole lot to stress us so that is particularly good. Keep those prayers coming for his comfort and safe arrival home!

I've had to make a few of those trips by car and plane. I actually flew first class one time at coach fare. The longest flight I ever had and it was only a three hour flight.

I'm glad your father knows you are there and you have family with you. I'm still praying for you and your dad.
