The short answer is YES! MNmama said it so eloquently. My marriage was woefully empty of the loving, genuine, connection that I so desperately wanted. Despite all my best efforts and more rejections than most people could endure from my own husband, I think I finally gave up hope and quietly stopped trying. But, the desire to make that deeply emotional and spiritual connection with someone is still alive in me. I am willing to wait for the right person to share it with. I already know what it's like to experience sex with someone who doesn't love me and doesn't look out for my needs and feelings. I've learned the hard way that sex without true connection is just a physical act that, more often than not, leaves you feeling empty and used. At least it did for me. I know I deserve so much more, as do all of you.

My answer would also be yes, but as many of the others have said or deferred to MNmama's response.......for me there has to be more to it than just the physical for it to be any good and truly enjoyable.

There needs to be a really strong attraction on many levels for me to even consider it with someone nowdays. If the mood, the atmosphere and the timing is right with the right person, it can still be amazing!!

Absolutely, we enjoy sex! MNMama said it perfectly! Within a loving and respectful relationship, it is AMAZING!!! I am a little worried that I will not know that again but I have a lot of life left to live!!! I want that part again as well!!!

Wow, Time4Kim, your marriage sounded a lot like mine--talk about game playing and rejection! My ex was a classic verbal/emotional abuser and he would set up situations so he could withhold sex. Toward the end of the marriage, I also stopped trying. As a 55-year-old "youngster," I still enjoy sex, but agree there needs to be some emotional connection. I couldn't do a one-night stand ever!

Of course we do. But everyone is talking about emotional connection etc. That's very true. While men are more visually enticed, women truly respond to the emotional aspect. So put that in your back pocket, and you'll get lots of sex ha ha ha

I am also old-fashioned but damaged 49 year old woman. I was married for 20 years and my heart was broken by what I thought was my "diamond in the rough"...cheating on me with his cousin's wife....Everyday I feel inadequate and have not dated let alone had sex in the last 8 years....I feel cheated even today on losing my marriage, my family, my home and the sanctuary of my marriage...I don't see myself enjoying sex ever again...makes me nauseous that I can have these feelings when I was a good wife...and so it goes...
