Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I think the biggest problem in many relationships is an imbalance of power/control. If two people are on the same page, moving forward together, it's as good as life gets. If someone isn't all in, only going through the motions, or worse yet, deceives, lies and cheats, the damage is almost as bad as life gets.
For myself, I don't know if I will see a balanced, mutual, relationship again, or if I would believe it if I saw it. It's not just about the physical side of being together, but the emotional and spiritual side too. I believe, for myself, that all 3 should align to support a healthy intimacy.
down the road, i really hope so
in the past i hoped and tried to include it in the equation
I could NOT have said it better myself.
I count myself VERY lucky that I had a long term relationship post my 20 year marriage. He died just over two years ago.
I was so lucky to find him...and we had some wonderful years together.
I do NOT expect things to 'align' again for me.
And that is OK.
My ex and I had great sex until he spoilt it by having an affair. End of trust.
love and hugs
