I was wondering what an attack feels like my first experience of diverticulitis was a perforated bowel and I now have a huge incision and a colostomy. But I need to know what an attack is like so that I know that I am having one and not in need of surgery again?? Help

What you felt prior to the surgery is what an attack is like. People seem to present with slightly different locations of abdominal pain, sometimes the pain is perceived elsewhere. Usually nearby but I've been reading about it online and in some rare cases, it can be far from the site that has gone acute. Google some Images of diverticulitis. You'll some remarkable photos. People have quie a few of these "pimples" before they blow up one with a perforation or infection. You'll know by the pain. Pay attention to pain.

I couldn't eat chocolate for three months after, but it doesn't bother me any more :).
