I was diagnosed with severe divertidulitis and I have never had surgery. When I used to have issues, my dr gave me antibiotics and that would clear it up. He only suggested surgery when I had the ulcerated spot. When I feel a painful bit coming on which is rare, I take aloe vera tablets until it clears or get more antibiotics. I would not let someone tell me it had to be cut out. I basically live pain free these days.
