Help surgery done and still in pain

Ok I had emergency surgery in October and had a perforation. I had a hospital stay for a week and a colostomy for 3 months. Had the reversal surgery in February. I am now in pain and have had the 3rd attack in 3 weeks. i have pain and feel like I am going to throw up. I am on antibiotics but I am just miserable. I have seen on here some people starting meds and some diet recommendations. I just want some help. I eat a salad one day and have no problem then 2 days later I may eat a salad again and I have pain, and sweating and my gut is just tore up. Any ideas from any one I can't keep living like this. Nuts or no Nuts I don't know what I can eat or what I can't eat. Doctor gave no restrictions but my body seems to have other ideas.

Hi Tiloree,

Ask your Doc for Asacol HD. That is the popular name brand of Mesalazine. Mesalazine fixes so many colon problems that it has a high likelyhood of fixing you AFTER you are not infected.

Another thing you might try is going on a glutten free diet. Many people have trouble with glutten and do not know it. You have to be a expert to figure of what glutten is in and what it is not in.

I really do not think people are being told the truth about the reversal of a colostomy. There are many dangers.

I know I sound like a broken record on Mesalazine, but there are only two real choices for us. Why not try the other choice?

I hope you feel better soon. I gave up on diet other than no fiber / liquids when sick.

I had the surgery in November and have been complaining of pain pretty much ever since. I had a CT scan done the end of April and since it doesn't show a problem they figure it must be scar tissue/adhesions. You should go back to your doctor because you may have a problem in there or it may turn out to be scar tissue/adhesions too. Only they can tell you. Don't ignore the problem though thinking the surgery fixed it all. I know that the foot of colon I have left does have diverticulum in it so I still need to be aware of that and you may need to also.

My family doctor is aware of everything and is maintaining me the best he can until my insurance kicks in in september. My doctor is the bomb. I will recommend that he consider Asocol. As for gluten we have a whole new issue there including an allergy to it so that is aready taken care of. I know that I am having diverticulitis attacks but I am so sick of them. I am now on a liquid diet to match my antibiotics. Once I get my gut under control I should be fine. I think I am eating too soon instead of staying on a liquid diet. Thank you so much for the advice and ideas keep em coming I can use all the help I can get.. I am trying to see if the antibiotics kick this if not then I am going to get more extensive check up.
