I landed in the hospital last sunday morning after being in severe pain for 3 days on my lower left aside of abdomen. They did CT scan and blood work and said I have diverticulitis. I was in the hospital on Flagyl and Levaquin and fluids till friday when I got released. I can;t seem to eat anything and hadnt been able to go to the bathroom at all since I was home until last night after a suppoository laxative. I am still in pain and can't handle anything but liquid diet. I go to GI doc this afternoon to discuss treatment options and colonoscopy schdeule.
The ER doc told me I would probably need surgery becasue I am only 33 years old and will probably keep having attaacks of this. I know I have been having constipation and pain issues on the left hand side for a few years now but never this severe before.
I am scared and do not know what to do, I can;t stand the pain, I can't stand the constipation and I know I am not going to be able to stand this dang liquid diet!!!!!!!!!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? You are a Youngin !! Lotsa Those on here too...and I thought this was Primarily an "Old Peoples Disease" !! There was Just a 29 year old on here...went thru the surgery before she knew what hit her..made it thru with No issues...Young Age Helps so Much !!
I Hope your Pain Backs off, Your Infection Clears..and You Never have Another Attack...this all Takes time..Read thru the Posts...find whats gonna Help you..Understand this is Not like any other type of Infection...even after it Clears you will Most Likely have some "Twingy Type Pain" for quite some Time..Diverticulosis can be Painful Without Infection, Just pay Attention to How You Feel...
I never had Constipation..I went the other way..Full On Trots...YeaY !! Neither is Fun, But I would sure Hate to be Constipated...the Meds gave me Straight water running thru me...I would Hit that Bathroom door with my pants DOWN...Yea. Tummy Troubles SUCK. Specially when ya Cannot run real well anymore !!
