Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

Losing weight is a slow process and if you rush things, you are most likely to gain everything back just as quickly too, so I would suggest a change of lifestyle and eating habits.. it's helpful in the long term. Allow yourself to have a cheat day once a week if you can't give up on junk.
I wish you all the best. I am suffering the same way so I can understand, but don't feel hopeless. I was 72 KGs when I started and I am now down to 68 kgs, my goal weight is 55-58 kgs.
Rapid Weight Loss Do Not Result To Health Benefits

A calorie is a calorie. It is only a unit of energy. It doesn't matter where that calorie comes from. Maybe you want a piece of toast. Don't fret because it's a carb, and think you have to eat a bowl of broccoli instead. As long as it fits into your goal, you can have it. That being said, sometimes you have to think about what will keep you fuller, longer. That's where the difference comes in. Maybe you want toast but you are ravenous. You may chose to have some protein and fat instead because it will satisfy your hunger longer.
It's not about restricting everything. It's about portion control. If you can have things that you enjoy, in correct portions, you are likely to stick to that way of eating better than cutting everything out, and have better results. It took me a very long time to learn this, and I'm finally losing weight that I haven't been able to lose in years.
Like @lorrieonline, I also recommend a site like MyfitnessPal. You can track calories on that site, but even if you don't use that function, there is so much information on that site about diet, nutrition, exercise....just about every single topic you can think of. It really has saved me from myself and put me on the right track. And the support on that site is AMAZING. It might be beneficial just to take a look, even if you end up not using it for anything.
Good luck!
Is there a weight loss group you can join? Hospitals, health departments run programs in the community, some churches or community groups have them . Does your insurance provider or doctor know of one? Online groups are helpful if there is one that fits your needs. Spring is a great time to start.
It is work. Education is a must. Discipline helps a lot. Old routines must change. I found keeping a daily food log showed me a lot. Support from others who were knowedgable was valuable bc that is where I learned where to make positive changes in foods I prepared, bought and ate. There are lots of good websites, books at the library plus a few diet related magazines there also. It is a journey. Enjoy it. Learning to prepare delicious foods, seeing your health improve and feeling better is worth the work.
